Hi angel, the guestbook area is all i can get into, dspite many emails for help, even the it takes multiple attempts to add a comment, this is the third attempt today, but contact and debate and crack on any forum improves the site, it looked dormant for so long, after the latest efforts of Dewey And Alice updating the photos videos and comments, shows us as alive and active to any new prospects looking in. Peter your coments about a later start 5/6 stages as abasic is i feel ideal, adding extra side shoots/stages would suite everyone, those that need to leave can go, and those able to stay can fill their boots, and with lower numbers will get more shooting. I hope to be one of them when I can find a small caravan to allow me to stay over.

I think this subject has spilled over a little, considering that this is the guest book area.

Derrrr?? Whats up Depitty?
All he's saying is more or less the same thing, that being rushed takes the enjoyment out of it, numbers are obviously a controlling factor and the travelling distances also contribute to the general 'feel' of the day.

Personally, I think the venue also has an effect. For instance, I feel better at Leek than either N/Cotes or B-L-Bain and knowing I have to drive a fair distance from Scarboro (not as far as you) affects my attitude.
I think that not having a proper BWSS 'home' range makes me feel slightly disconnected, unlike my own range at Mansfield, where I feel in charge.

Howdy gents
Thanks for your replies.
Youve raised a couple of points, may not necessarilly agree with you but the point of my original question was to get some feedback ,the more the better.

Weve spoken before about a comp where you were rushed and felt pressured and didnt enjoy it, dont think i was at that one so cant comment specifically but got to be honest ive never felt pressured at a shoot. , maybe thats because ive been shooting comps of varying types for over 25 years.
Argeed some shoots can be very hectic what with the loading, shooting ,helping etc as a shooter, throw in the organising , running , ROing etc and trying to get everyone through all the stages in a timely manner maybe whilst still trying to shoot yourself and that can all add up.
Maybe the organisers didnt realising that trying to get people to hurry up was spoiling their enjoyment of the day.
Cant say i remember starting before 9.30 but maybe a stated start time of say 10 would be a good idea, ive seen people arrive later and still get to shoot all the stages so if you are late iam sure the organisers would be willing to get you through the stages.
On the downside to that there are those that need to get away early for whatever reason so the later the start has a knock on at the other end.
Again depending on the number of people there has an effect on how many stages can be fitted in. At the last NorthCotes shoot 21 attended saturday and 6 stages were shot, some left or didnt shoot all the stages, there was only i think 12 there on the sunday so we managed to shoot the same 6 stages plus a couple of speed shoot side stages and still be finished early.
Perhaps that could become a standard model,6 main comp stages plus a few extras for those than are able if there is time left at the end of the day.
Having said that if someone takes say 2 minutes to shoot each stage, 6 stages only gives you 12 minutes shooting out of the day and most get their stages done a lot quicker than that so get to spend even less time actually shooting. So there could be an arguement for shooting more stages.
Its a balancing act
Definately the most important part of the day is having fun in a safe manner with some good natured banter and abuse thrown in.
Like i said i asked the question to find out about complaints or suggestions to make things better and get more people involved.
Angel i know what you mean about getting out of bed in the mornings, but just be thankful you still can.
Keep the comments coming, and that goes for anyone else reading these posts.
Theres 60+ members on this site, not all BWSS, and a similar number of BWSS members so where are they all. lets hear from you.

I have to agree Capt., 6 stages are just about enough for me, much more and my poor old back gives me gyp and it is most uncomfortable driving back home.
As you also say, a 10 o'clock start would be better 'cos getting up now-a-days is getting harder!!! (Damn bed will not let go!)

If you are reading this you are obviously interested in cowboy shooting, so does your club hold cowboy shoots in any form, are you and your fellow members interested in shooting cowboy.
Would you or you club be interested in a cowboy shoot if it was put on for you and held at your club.

Hi dewey, greetings to you all, still cant get loogged on,

Like you and Alice apart from Leek all the venues involve me driving 300 odd miles, and not being able to stay over means leaving home at 0530, and not getting back untill 9pm. but I loved it, but it can be a struggle and sometimes risky, maybe we could start alittle later 0930/ 1000. The off put for me was spending the day with people shouting all day pushing to get seven stages in.

There was quite a few felt the same but I shall speak for myself. I come along to enjoy myself, I enjoy the company I have met at all the meetings I have attended, I enjoy having a laugh and the crack with them, I dont enjoy having to run round not having time to enjoy the day, I am competative but only against myself, I will never be up there with the top few and am not interested in beeing so, but to me its a waste of time and a lot of money, to not be able to complete seven stages and be penalised for not finishing a stage, hence I have attended fewer comps this year, maybe more relaxed fewer stages and a more relaxed day out, Regards Brian.

Howdy

Myself and the missus have been shooting cowboy over the past 3 years or so and have attended as many as we possibly can which can involve driving over 300 miles each way to one of the venues and at each shoot its basically the same faces.

We have noticed during that time many have had a look at the shoots, some people have come had a go and are now regulars , some have done a couple and havent been seen again.

So the question is why do some come back for more and others fall off the wagon .

So for those that keep coming why, what do you enjoy and for those that dont come back why, is it the travelling, the venues, the style of shooting, not enough guns, didnt enjoy it ., what ,, let us know.

Is there anything that you can think of that would get more people interested and keep them interested can we improve things.

If youd rather not reply on the open forum pm me, if you cant log in then please use the guestbook.
