Side shoots  often posted for 45-70 or equivalent calibres,  does 30-30 which appeared in 1895 or 56-50 spencer qualify

Hi Bob,

the book says:-

Main, Team and Side Matches, (not Long range or Precision Rifle), any lever action, tubular fed, exposed hammer rifle or carbine, manufactured between 1860 and 1899, or any reproduction thereof.

(Pistol calibres not rifle)

What I believe you are asking about is a 'long range match' (100yd) rather than a side match,  unless the l/r match has been misnamed as a side match.

Personally, I think that both of your calibre's comply for a long range match, as per date.

I would obviously bow to greater knowledge from senior moderators.
