Howdy folks, I am a blackpowder shooter and NRA Range Conducting Officer down south here in West Sussex. I have a half dozen members in my club (Surrey Borders Rifle and Pistol Club) who own and shoot BP pistols, Rifles and shotguns, and we are looking to put together some competitions down here. I have down loaded some of the pdf documents from SASS regarding event organising and range/ competition rules, and wondered if you could give me any tips or help in getting this of the ground. Any helpor advice would be mighty appreciated.

Hi there Shovelhead, (got a Harley??), welcome to the family! Your best bet would be to contact Alan Vickers and no doubt he will be able to steer you in the right direction. His contact details are on the membership form. With any luck, once you are established, you may be able to host a shoot for all of us, (check the calender of events to see where we go). Obviously, a visit to one of our shoots would give you an idea as to our way of going about things.

Thanks Angel Eyes. Funny enough I have a 1982 Shovelhead Harley.... how did you guess! Will try and contact Alan, and hopefully be able to sort a venue, perhaps at Bisley NRA, although I need to get an idea of the range layouts needed for competitions. Thanks again for your help.

Whoa there partner!!! Cowboy Action Shooting at Bisley??? Cor,,,wouldn't that be a sight for sore eyes!! I'll just check my bank balance to see how much I could wager against that!! Not that I am anti-NRA or anything but Blue Moons and Flying Pigs come to mind,,good luck with that one,,,can't wait!! If you ask Alan for a copy of the BWSS Shooters Handbook, that will give you all the info required to start!! Any other queries, try my e-mail, dbsmedley@hotmail.com

Thanks for your help Angel Eyes. As for Bisley - we can but try! We may have to change a few processes to fit in with whats allowed on those hallowed grounds. Will know better when I have read the Shooters Handbook. Will be in touch with any news.
